emily + matt 10.17.10

the lovely emily and matt were married at the picnic house in prospect park! a picturesque setting in the middle of brooklyn, the ceremony was held in a field surrounded by trees and the ground was crisp with fallen leaves! a unique ceremony included: a reading from the velveteen rabbit by penelope {emily's sister} and a reading by darwin named the pros and cons of marriage.. very cute! they also included a hindu tradition of tying their clothes to each other! emily is an artist and it showed throughout their big day! the colors were green, grey and brown.. flowers with stems wrapped in velvet and twine, the guys had boutonierres with pine cones and the girls wore mixmatched grey dresses.. so fun! the theme was nature and long tables were covered in craft paper, favors were small trees in burlap which also served as centerpieces, a rustic menu was displayed on a chalkboard and guests names were written on paper leaves that hung off their water glass. a cream cake dressed up with small branches and fall colored birds, ball jars filled with moss and white lights hung from chairs and the kids were given burlap sacks filled with construction paper, glow sticks and woolly willys! some very special toasts including a tear jerker by miranda {emily's sister} and lots of great music like cindy lauper and springsteen! also a few surprise visitors: an albino squirrel and a pair of racoons! it was such a special day filled with so many meaningful touches! congrats e + m.. have a blast in costa rica!
