mai + john 5.27.12

the wedding of mai {pronounced may} and john was truly magical! a librarian for the museum of natural history and a journalist married on a sunday evening at fernbrook farm and b&b. the weather started out a bit rough, but soon the clouds parted and provided beautiful weather for their outdoor garden ceremony! flavored iced teas and lemonades kept guests cool as they strolled the garden path to the ceremony. the couple read their own vows and presented their adoring parents with embroidered handkerchiefs. breaking tradition john met his new bride up the aisle to walk her back! {love that} some fantastic details included many diy and etsy finds including paper pinwheels that served as guest seating arrangements and vintage style seed postcards to write well wishes for mai and john. invitations  wrapped in red and white baking twine with images of farm animals fit perfectly into their theme. {the real farm animals were no less impressive - baby goats, some muddy ducks and a big brown cow} the reception was decorated with carnival string lights and long tables wrapped in burlap and centerpieced with gerber daisies, bail jars held candles {straight from mai's museum!} and my favorite hand carved ducks {by master decoy woodworker - john's dad} held table numbers! some traditional dances from mai's culture and the couple danced to death cab for cutie {so cool!} in lieu of cake, pies in every flavor like apple and strawberry rhubard were served along with world famous ice cream & gelato from the bent spoon in princeton - delicious! without question a wedding i was blessed to be a part of, such a sweet and kind couple and a truly beautiful day! xo
